Reeves Thoroughbred Racing is a private racing stable, owned by Dean and Patti Reeves of Atlanta, GA. Dean, a native of Atlanta and graduate of Georgia Tech, is the Chairman and Co-owner of Reeves Young, a commercial contracting company established in 1952 that builds heavy civil, commercial, and water treatment projects throughout the Southeast. Dean is also the President of the Georgia Horse Racing Coalition, a non-profit group whose mission is to work with GA legislators to bring horse racing to the State of Georgia.
Patti owns Reeves Media, an outdoor advertising specialty firm based in Atlanta, as well as Island Displays, a billboard company in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
The Reeves formed RTR in 2009, with trainer Kathy Ritvo, who successfully campaigned “Mucho Macho Man” to numerous graded stakes victories, culminating with his thrilling win in the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Classic. This win resulted in the NTRA Moment of the Year for 2013, and Mucho Macho Man won the Secretariat Vox Populi Award, as well as the Florida bred Horse of the Year Award, in addition to his Eclipse nomination. Kathy Ritvo, a heart transplant recipient, is the first female trainer to ever win the Breeders’ Cup Classic. Mucho Macho Man now stands at Adena Springs, KY, and the Reeves continue to breed, train, and race a stable with over 50 horses.
Partnering with the Reeves for the Pegasus World Cup is Eric Young, the Atlanta based President/CEO and Co-owner of Reeves Young, an entrepreneur whose experience includes building the Georgia Aquarium and many other landmarks throughout the Southeast. Eric retired from Brasfield and Gorrie before the age of 40, and became co-owner with Dean in 2006. Eric is the driving force behind growing Reeves Young to the leading company it is today. The Pegasus World Cup Invitational will be his first endeavor with horse racing.
